Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) is working to elect strong progressives to Congress. We need your support now to help elect three great California progressives. We've written to you about Doug Applegate and Nanette Barragán, previously. We also have a third endorsed California candidate you can help as well, Emilio Huerta.
Please dig deep and donate $500, $50, or whatever you can afford to PDA's Make Change fund now! We won't get big money from billionaires or super PACs. To win, we need help from small donors and activists like you! We welcome contributions of any size. Please consider making automatic recurring monthly contributions.
Please send checks to:

Emilio Huerta is a son of the Central Valley. He was born in Stockton and lives in Bakersfield. His mother is farm labor heroine Dolores Huerta. Emilio worked in the labor movement with the United Farmworkers union his mother founded with Cesar Chavez. Emilio earned the Central Valley Sierra Progressives endorsement because he supports all of our legislative priorities. He needs our help to unseat the wealthy conservative Republican, David Valadao, who strongly supports of the TPP.
Recapping Doug and Nanette
PDA selected Nanette as one of our nationally focused candidates because of her strong progressive positions and long, accomplished record of public service. From Nanette's campaign website:
Nanette Barragán believes that regardless of age, income, zip code, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation, we all want the same things: We want the opportunity to find a good-paying job, access to great schools, and safe, healthy communities where you can raise a family. As the youngest of eleven kids raised by parents who immigrated to this country from Mexico, she knows that you have to fight for those things.
Nanette worked in Washington at the White House for President Clinton and at the NAACP, where she focused on social justice issues and researched racial health disparities. Most recently she was a leader in the successful fight against Measure O, a ballot measure that would have allowed oil companies to drill in the Santa Monica Bay.
She served as the first Latina ever elected to the Hermosa Beach City Council. Nanette lives in San Pedro and currently works with one of Los Angeles’s largest and most prominent children’s advocacy organizations to provide free legal services to children in foster care who have special education needs.
Please donate generously to help us elect Nanette. Money tight? Then volunteer with Mike "Phone Guy" Fox to make easy but important calls from your own home, or contact PDA Field Director Judy Hess to help build chapters in your area. No time to volunteer? Then invest in progress with a generous donation right now. Signing up to make an automatic monthly donation would help most, but we gratefully welcome any donation.
PDA also chose to focus our national resources to help Doug Applegate beat Darrel Issa, one of the richest members of Congress who increased his wealth to $250,000,000 by steering government contacts that enriched him personally. Now Issa is running scared. A Tea Party extremist who has been brought up on criminal charges, Issa is attacking Applegate by literally attacking you and me. Issa's campaign is trying to smear us as dangerous radicals, and trying to attack Doug for upholding positions we advocate.
Please dig deep to make critically important donations to help elect Doug now! Money tight? Then contact Mike "Phone Guy" Fox to sign up to make important movement mobilizing phone calls and/or contact PDA Field Coordinator Judy Hess to get help organizing in your area. Too busy to volunteer? Then please contribute generously to support Doug Applegate. We gratefully welcome any donation.
