The Best Democracy Money Can Buy at NetRoots

First of all, we have done profound work above and beyond our strength and Bernie’s and PDA’s agenda burrows deeper inside the morbidly reluctant Democratic Party. Not far enough, I know. We’ve had heartrending failures. But also some success pushing us forward.

San Fernando Valley PDA President Russell Greene succeeded with his platform plank citing Climate Change as an emergency. Long overdue, one would think; but no small thing. The emergency is now established as a principle guiding party candidates, appointed officials, legislators, and voters.

Preparing for November, and all the contests that will determine governance, I’m sending this notice. At Netroots Nation in St. Louis, investigative reporter Greg Palast will sneak-peek his film THE BEST DEMOCRACY MONEY CAN BUY: A Tale of Billionaires & Ballot Bandits. If you can, be there!

Presented by Screening Liberally,

Saturday July 16th, 2016 – 6pm

It reports on “Crosscheck,” a lethally automatic purge program that many GOP-states are collaborating on to remove minority and Democratic voters from digital voter rolls. Such states will have more friendly electorates - or more credibly friendly electorates, should vote-count manipulation be required - towards "Crosscheck’s” funders and operatives.

Some of those villains will be familiar. Others not, because their villainy isn’t limited to election manipulation. That’s just an inconvenient necessity to assure their continued profits from buying debt, shredding the social fabric, undermining public and environmental health, and ending local sovereignty, all while taking big hunks of taxpayer money.

If you can get to St. Louis on Saturday night - GO!

THE BEST DEMOCRACY MONEY CAN BUY: A Tale of Billionaires & Ballot Bandits

Follow BBC/Rolling Stone gonzo investigative reporter Greg Palast on his hunt for the berserko billionaires behind a scheme to purge voters of color and more in November. With the help of Willie Nelson, Rosario Dawson & detectives Ice-T & Richard Belzer, Palast tracks down the secret billionaire BEHIND Donald Trump. From the Arctic where Palast gets clues from a foul-mouthed Eskimo, then on to a speed-boat to a ritzy Hamptons bash with hidden cameras—and finally a jump on the billionaire ballot-rustler known as The Vulture.

With Palast’s inimitable style ("funnier than Michael Moore, more substantial than Naomi Klein"—the Guardian)—and cartoons by the man who drew "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," this is no regular documentary—it’s a non-fiction movie that takes you on a real-live high-stakes detective mission.

Palast, says Jim Hightower, is "A cross between Sam Spade and Sherlock Holmes."

Palast is the BBC/Guardian reporter who busted Katherine Harris’ fake felon purge that stole the election for Bush in 2000.

"Courageous reporting." - Michael Moore.

Now, Palast is back — joined by sidekick Ms. Badpenny — to bust the story of the Theft of 2016 before it happens. Palast names the ballot bandit bastards — and the GOP pinhead pols who do their bidding

Funny, heartbreaking, "He is trouble..but good trouble.. facts like hand grenades"
-John Pilger
