Help Keep Dr. Bill On The Road Making House Calls For Medicare For All

Dr. Bill Honigman—Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) California State Coordinator and People Demanding Action Healthcare Issue Team Coordinator—hit the road again this past weekend. Thanks to activists like Dr. Bill, Donna Smith, and our many allies including the National Nurses United (NNU), Our Revolution, the Labor Campaign for Single Payer, PNHP, Healthcare Now! and others, Improved Medicare for All is gaining rapidly in public support.

PDA has been committed to healthcare as a human right since our founding 14 years ago. We worked with our allies launching the Congressional Medicare for All Caucus on Capitol Hill, and we helped gain more cosponsors for House and Senate legislation. With overwhelming and growing support from the public, and progressive candidates running unabashedly on an Improved Medicare for All platform, the prospects for our movement going forward have never been better. This is because of support from activists like you for organizers like Dr. Bill.

Dr. Bill left his home in Southern California and traveled up north to the San Francisco Bay Area to present a talk on “Medicare For All versus Medicare” to PDA’s extremely active coalition partner Health Care for All (HCA) Marin County CA. He followed up with second appearance, this time as a special guest for brunch with fellow Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) also of Marin.

Both groups were especially fired up after sharing national, regional, and local reports on the tremendous recent successes of our messaging. There’s no rest for the weary as Dr. Bill was up before 6 a.m. local time this morning, sharing his expertise on #MedicareForAll with a radio audience in Washington, D.C. via phone interview.

Dr. Bill’s hectic travel schedule won’t let up as long as we’re committed to covering his expenses so he doesn’t go broke getting out the word on Improved Medicare for All. He has a County Committee meeting tonight. After that, it’s back to the Bay area on Tuesday for another presentation—this time at the PDA San Francisco Chapter meeting. Then he has a presentation in Orange, CA on Wednesday, then he’s headed back to Oakland for the California Single Payer meeting.

We need your help to keep Dr. Bill on the road, organizing for Improved Medicare For All. We're trying to raise $1,000 today to cover these travel expenses—discount air fare and a sandwich or two along the way—and to set aside some funds to cover his travel to future events.
