This primary election season has been remarkable in so many ways, but on this eve of our national Independence Day observance, I am thinking most about how we collectively work to secure freedom for all to enjoy their lives to the fullest.

While many quote selectively from one of our most cherished documents, few truly strive to bring to life the vision of a nation in which all people are truly created as equals with equal rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.   It is perhaps in these words that we find the common ground that we can build on.

Striving to Become a Nation of Equals

It may be childish idealism or naïveté that makes me believe in a future that can still allow for this as yet unrealized vision to be more fully explored and experienced.  But I know PDA members share this vision and are working hard to turn vision into reality.

This won't be a long message but it is a sincere thank you to each of you for your effort, your financial support, and your passion for justice.  Together we may just protect and expand those ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence and leave to future generations a legacy of courage and compassion.
