Climate Emergency: It's Do Or Die!

There is no more serious issue confronting us today than the climate emergency. Russell Greene has been our champion on climate emergency / environmental issues. He has helped offer solutions to this crisis for decades–long before Al Gore or most other famous advocates. He just finished leading on climate and other policy issues at the DNC Platform deliberations in Orlando. Please donate generously now to help Russell travel to Philadelphia where he will again help lead the struggle for climate stability.

With our help, Russell will help lead the March for a Clean Energy Revolution, serve us as a DNC delegate for Bernie Sanders, and present on the Climate Emergency at PDA’s Progressive Central. As I wrote earlier, the climate determines our weather--the range of temperatures, the violence and quantity of major storms, and the dangerously shifting rainfall patterns that are causing both floods and droughts. Scientists warn that our actions are changing our climate at an emergency rate, and generals warn that the climate emergency is already destabilizing volatile regions, creating refugees and exacerbating geopolitical tensions.

We cannot afford to continue this reckless experiment on our planet Earth. However, we can afford to pitch to now to help support the architect of the historic Russell Greene amendment, and one of the floor leaders who drove the successful debate for by far the most expansive climate language in any party platform ever. We called on you to help us defray Russell Greene's travel costs to Orlando, FL and then to Philadelphia, PA. So far, about 50 of us have pitched in $1,500 as of this writing. That's a great start, but we need to more than double that amount in the next few days. Can you please help Russell continue his leadership?

Here's the text of the Russell Greene amendment:

Democrats believe it would be a grave mistake for the United States to wait for another nation to lead the world in combating the global climate emergency. In fact, we must move first in launching a green industrial revolution, because that is the key to getting others to follow; and because it is in our own national interest to do so.

Just as America’s greatest generation led the effort to defeat the Axis Powers during World War II, so must our generation now lead a World War II-type national mobilization to save civilization from catastrophic consequences. We must think beyond Paris.

In the first 100 days of the next administration, the President will convene a summit of the world’s best engineers, climate scientists, climate experts, policy experts, activists and indigenous communities to chart a course toward the healthy future we all want for our families and communities.

Russell has been there for us. Now we must be there for him! Please donate generously now to help support the architect of the historic Russell Greene amendment! All his travel will cost $thousands. We need your help right now. Please contribute generously right now to help defray Russell's travel expenses. We need him in Philadelphia to fight for us on all of the critically important issues.
