Join Us on Jan. 10th for a Meeting with Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian

     Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, who represents the 46th Assembly District (which includes North Hollywood, Panorama City, Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Van Nuys), will discuss his legislative priorities for California in the coming year in conjunction with a new governor.  He is on the Assembly Committee on Health and was a co-author on SB 562, the Healthy California Act, so he will address what progress can be made in healthcare.  This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the legislative process and to express concerns and ideas.  To learn more about the Assemblymember, go to his website HERE.

      In our series of presentations of Democrats running for the City Council to replace Mitch Englander, we will host Scott Abrams, who is the District Director for U.S. Congressmember Brad Sherman.  Scott will discuss why he is running as well as his experience and his top priorities. 

     Doris Dent will speak on the procedures for the Assembly Delegate Election Meetings (or ADEMs).  These meetings are to elect delegates to represent us with the California State Democratic Party so be sure to attend and bring out friends.  The elections in the Valley are scheduled as follows:  AD 39 - Saturday, Jan. 26, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at IBEW Local 11, 400 Chatsworth Drive, San Fernando; AD 45 - Sunday, Jan. 13, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Organization of Istanbul Armenians, 19726 Sherman Way, Winnetka; AD 46 - Sunday, Jan. 27, 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at State Building Auditorium, 6150 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys.  You can find more info HERE.

     Richard Mathews will discuss the California Democratic Party Legislative Request Form, which can be used to ask the party to endorse or oppose proposed federal or state legislation.  Eva Perkins will speak about the provisions in the anti-corruption federal legislation HR 1, the For The People Act.   

     The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Mike and Sheila Goldman's home in Woodland Hills.  Please bring refreshments such as cheese and crackers, chips and dip, dessert, fruit, vegetables, juice or wine.
