Thanksgiving Resend

We wanted to make sure you saw this Special Message from Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) Board Chair, Conor Boylan:

These are scary times, sisters and brothers. The election results were disheartening, to say the least, but there is still some good news. As many of us prepare to gather for Thanksgiving this week, we still have much to be thankful for. PDA joined Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and many other progressives supporting Keith Ellison for DNC chair. His chances look good.

As Republicans plot to repeal Obamacare, now is the time for a renewed and powerful Single Payer push under our tenth anniversary relaunch of our Healthcare Not Warfare (HNW) campaign. We would like to have HNW vigils held across the country on Saturday, December 10th, 2016, International Human Rights Day. Please contact Mike Fox now to help organize a vigil or other event.

Join us for an organizing call this Saturday December 3 at 4pm ET / 1pm PT
Dial-in Number: (712)-775-7035 / Access Code: 124469#
Please RSVP to Mike Fox and include any questions you have about the vigils

"...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control...."

- Galatians 5:22-23

With your help, exciting new candidates won seats in Congress, including Nanette Barrgán (in California) and founding PDA Advisory Board member Jamie Raskin (in Maryland). Living wage and marijuana initiatives also won at the ballot box. See below to get on an exclusive call with a strong progressive Senate candidate Tuesday. If you're thankful for all the organizing Progressive Democrats of America does for you, please donate $500, $50, or whatever you can to keep our movement growing.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership appears dead, although we remain vigilant against this and all other corporate empowering wholesale attacks on our basic political, economic, labor, environmental, and consumer rights. Bernie is now one of the most powerful voices in the Senate. Amidst the false choices floated by the incoming administration, we hear hopeful discussion of repealing NAFTA and also making massive investments in our crumbling infrastructure.

Special Election Update from Mike “Phone Guy” Fox:

Lost in the smoke of the deplorable Election Day results is one possible Senate pickup. Louisiana will hold a runoff on December 10th, and we have a great populist candidate to support named Foster Campbell. Foster's held elected office in Louisiana for years, and he's stood with the 99% all the way.

His support for limiting corporate power has oil companies saying they "can't work with him." That's a PDA candidate. We had a great call with Foster last Tuesday. We got to know him better and learned how to help him win. The PDA phone team nation-wide is already in the game with him. Want to get involved? Contact me to make important movement-building calls from your home and / or toss a few (thousand) pennies in the tip jar.

In addition to the exciting Louisiana Senate runoff Mike Fox discussed above, PDA-endorsed candidates did surprisingly well, and some are in contests that are still too close to call. Most important, now more than ever, we have the opportunity to help remake the Democratic Party. Our founder Tim Carpenter always talked about the inside/outside strategy, and now we have the chance to move ahead with that like never before.

I have been following a dream and will open a coffee shop in Cleveland, Ohio next year. We have a volatile four years ahead, but I believe that we can move a progressive agenda and get real progressives elected beginning in Louisiana, and onward to the midterm elections in 2018. As a typical Irishman, I was often seeing the glass as half empty, but now more so than ever, I see a glass half full situation here. Opportunities are there for us, and I hope this email helped show where they are.

Help PDA make needed progress on Healthcare Not Warfare. Please contact Mike Fox now to help organize a Healthcare Not Warfare event or vigil. Sign up with Mike to make important calls from your own home. Too busy to volunteer? Then donate $500, $50, or whatever you can now to support our unabashedly progressive organizing for healthcare as a human right.

In solidarity,

Conor Boylan for Donna, Mike H, Judy, Mike F, Janis, Deb, Kim, Dan, Teva, and Amos
