Panels Not Pipelines!

The Associated Press tweeted: "Trump signs executive actions to advance the construction of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines." Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) National Advisory Board member Rep. Raul Grijalva, (AZ-7), quickly responded:

Even for a president who mistakes his own whims for the rule of law and corporate profits for the public interest, these orders are irresponsible. These pipelines are being approved because President Trump wants to make polluter corporations happy, not because they’re good for the country.
If either of these pipelines is finalized, the damage to water quality, public health, and eventually our climate will be on his hands. Approving the Dakota Access project in particular violates Native American sovereignty, treaty rights and federal trust responsibility which the Obama administration rightly recognized when it decided the pipeline needed further review.

PDA Agrees with Rep. Grijalva, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and other leaders in Congress who say no to these pipelines!

Will you help PDA mobilize for (Solar) Panels, Not Pipelines?
We need your help now to promote clean, renewable energy!

Join Our Populist Progressive Movement

On Saturday, January 21, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) joined with millions of people around the world to stand up for women's rights, civil rights, human rights, jobs, the environment, and more. We distributed signs and stickers, and did everything we could to help support this inspiring outpouring of democracy. Now, the big question is this: can we maintain the momentum from this amazing day, and continue to build a powerful movement? The answer is largely up to you!

We marched in the millions, and that was great, but it isn't enough. We have to keep on "marching" by pressuring Congress and the administration to protect our rights and meet our needs. We must mobilize continuously to win critically important political and economic battles, using the ballot box, boycotts, and bold initiatives. Click here to see some of the photos we took at the marches.

Will you help PDA mobilize the powerful movement we need?
We need your help to build resistance with a positive agenda!

The Healthcare Fight Ahead

As we prepare for the Trump inauguration tomorrow, we continue the battle already underway against his right wing regime. Last week, PDA joined with allies all across the country organizing "Hands Off Our Healthcare" rallies and events. We called it our "First Stand" because we know this struggle is just beginning.

I keep hearing troubling reports of an all-out right wing assault on our basic healthcare rights: Medicare privatization, defunding health clinics, repeal of the Affordable Care Act, and all without any mention of Expanded and Improved Medicare for All—the only real solution to the U.S. health crisis. We need you to step up now! Please contribute $500 $50 or whatever you can to help support Healthcare as a Human Right.

His CPC Co-Chair Rep. Raul Grijlava added, "My absence is not motivated by disrespect for the office or motivated by disrespect for the government that we have in this great democracy, but as an individual act, yes, of defiance at the disrespect shown to millions and millions of Americans by this incoming administration, and the actions we are taking in this Congress."

Honor Dr. King By Demanding Healthcare Justice!

As we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a few of his many insightful, inspiring quotes come to mind. The first, "The Arc of the Moral Universe Is Long, But It Bends Toward Justice," honors the hard-won progress we've made throughout history, and predicts our ultimate triumph over injustice. Sadly, that line of progress is an arc, not a straight, ever-ascending line.

Sometimes, as in our current times, that arc is bent away from justice. Still, such failures are only temporary. That is because there are always people of good will and decency, people like you, who remain determined. Who will light and keep candles of hope, and maintain the struggle for progress even in the darkest times. During these times of fear and folly, we need you to step up now! Please contribute whatever you can to help support Healthcare as a Human Right!
