Sustaining Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) is a no-brainer for me. For as little as $5 per month, about the same price as a designer coffee, I can feel like my money is where my mouth is. A database, website, stickers, posters, volunteers, and a national staff that works so hard for so little is a wise investment in the future success of our progressive movement. PDA gets it, but we need resources to continue our work inside and outside the Democratic Party, with the ultimate goal of “electing a progressive governing majority,” as our late founder Tim Carpenter used to say.

As a medical person, I’m continually proud of PDA for standing up for Single Payer enhanced and improved Medicare for All, and #HealthcareJustice. And as anyone will tell you who has seen me work a Democratic convention or national Single Payer conference like the one we just had in Minneapolis, I can go through a roll of “Healthcare Not Warfare” or “Justice or Bust” stickers pretty quickly. This summer, PDA is joining with our dear friends National Nurses United, The Labor Campaign for Single Payer, Social Security Works, Healthcare Now, Physicians for a National Health Program, and many more launching an exciting “Knock On Every Door” campaign.

We’re unrolling an ambitious combined public outreach, legislative, and field operation to bring your message to the people and elected officials: Healthcare is a human right. We’re building support for HR 676 and Bernie’s healthcare bill in Congress, working so that every American will always receive all medically necessary treatment—including prescriptions, procedures, dental, mental, vision, preventative, and long-term care—without deductibles, zero copayments, nothing out of pocket, and no lifetime caps. $100, $50, $10 or $5 per month is a tiny investment toward achieving the dream of Expanded and Improved Medicare for All.
