Tell Your Representative To Join
the Medicare For All Caucus!
Next week is the 53rd anniversary of Medicare—one of the most effective, important programs in U.S. history. Last week, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and allied organizations celebrated the launch of the new Medicare For All Caucus. We’re working in coalition to support the new caucus and build support for Healthcare as a Human Right.
About 70 members of Congress joined the caucus to help build support for H.R. 676, the Expanded and Improved Medicare For All Act. and PDA is an important part of that mobilization (as well as organizing for Bernie Sanders’ healthcare bill). Click here to read more about the caucus.

Healthcare is a human right, not a commodity or privilege. The USA spends by far the most on healthcare per person of any nation in the world, yet our outcomes are mediocre at best. This is because private for-profit insurance, Big Pharma, and other greed-driven entities drive up the costs of care, and too often deny care to boost their bottom line.
To promote Healthcare as a Human Right, PDA and our allies—including the National Nurses United (NNU), Healthcare NOW, Labor Campaign for Single Payer Healthcare, and Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP)—are working to expand and improve Medicare. We’re organizing a “knock on every door” campaign to gain more cosponsors for H.R. 676 in the House and Bernie’s Senate bill. As we look forward to celebrating 53 years of Medicare up to us to defend, expand, enhance and improve it. Please donate $500, $50, or whatever you can now to support our organizing for healthcare as a human right.
Americans overwhelmingly support a Medicare For All approach, but meanwhile the Trumpublicans are going in the wrong direction by scheming to end Medicare. They vow to sabotage this effective, popular, life-saving program and replace it with paltry vouchers they euphemistically call “premium support.” It’s nothing but a way to throw people into the clutches of the for-profit insurance companies.
The proposed cuts and changes would turn Medicare into “Coupon Care,” impoverishing and endangering people who rely on Medicare. All this to further enrich private health insurance companies. This will waste taxpayers' money, and—most critically—endanger the health and lives of millions of people. It's up to you to tell Congress, “We Demand Medicare For All!”
PDA calls on the Congress to fulfill our commitment under international agreements to guarantee healthcare as a human right, and to enact Medicare For All without delay. Every day that passes, more innocent Americans lose their lives to preventable diseases because they can’t afford healthcare and/or their medications. Not one more family should have to declare bankruptcy due to exploding healthcare costs.
It’s time for the United States to join the ranks of nations where every person has all medically necessary healthcare—including medications, dental, vision, long term, and mental healthcare—with no co-pays, deductibles, caps, networks, or red tape.
PDA chapters nationwide will hold public events and other programs, canvass, and lobby our elected officials alongside our allies to dramatize our national failure to guarantee high quality healthcare as a human right. Please donate generously now to help PDA mobilize activists and keep us organizing for Medicare for All. Money tight? Then sign up for PDA's Healthcare Human Rights organizing team.
