Join Sandra Fluke as she discusses "Making Our Voices Heard"
Sandra Fluke is the California State Director of an advocacy organization where she works on climate change, economic inequality, campaign finance reform, immigration, healthcare and criminal justice reform. Prior to running for the State Senate in 2014, she garnered national attention by testifying before members of Congress regarding insurance coverage for birth control and she stood up to Rush Limbaugh's spurious attacks. For her presentation, she will be addressing economic and social justice issues.
We will also discuss the status of several California legislative bills that we have been following. SB 562, The Healthy California Act, has become a two-year bill and the Assembly is currently holding special hearings on healthcare. AB 249, the California DISCLOSE Act, was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown and is set to go into effect in January.
